When taking the photographs in the studio, I used a split lighting and a black back drop for mood. The split lighting consisted of a light to the far side of my subjects, that was timed to flash when the photograph is taken. This means that one side of the face is exposed from the lighting; where as the other half is mostly in shadow. This helped me when editing my photographs as I planned to edit both faces over one another, the use of consistent light allowed me to get a more realistic finish. On editing, I adjusted the sharpness, saturation, and colour balance (to black and white) of each image, ensuring the levels were all accurate and the same on each. I made a layer via cut of the girls face, placing her on top of my other subjects face. By adjusting the placement very carefully, I matched the faces up so the features fit together. I found inspiration from my chosen black and white photographers to create this image; for instance the interesting use of features used in Cory Smiths photographs.
